The calendar year has delivered an exceptional performance across the precious metals complex.
Gold continues to shine as the cornerstone of the sector, driven by robust central bank purchases, strong retail investment in bars and coins, and steady inflows into ETFs. This trifecta of demand has reinforced gold’s role as the ultimate safe-haven asset, particularly in an environment of elevated geopolitical risk and uncertainty around monetary policy.
Silver, meanwhile, has been riding its own powerful trend. The market has remained in a persistent supply deficit since 2021, with industrial demand from solar panels, electronics, and EVs colliding with strong investor appetite. With mining output and recycling unable to keep pace, silver’s fundamentals are arguably the strongest they have been in over a decade.
Perhaps the biggest surprise has been Platinum, which has finally broken out of years of stagnation. After a prolonged period of subdued performance, the metal has staged an impressive comeback, supported by tightening supply, increased automotive and industrial use, and growing interest from investors searching for undervalued opportunities within the precious metals space.
